FAQ
Acanthastrea, commonly known as Acans, are renowned for their vivid colors and are highly favored corals primarily sourced from Australia and Indonesia. Recently, several members of this genus underwent reclassification, with Acanthastrea lordhowensis being reclassified into Micromussa and Acanthastrea Bowerbanki into Homophyllia. Nevertheless, within the hobbyist community, these corals are still commonly referred to as Acanthastrea, and are a must for any saltwater reef tank.
Acanthastrea/Micromussa/Homophyllia specimens are prized for their stunning colors and intricate patterns. As part of our commitment to aquaculture, we endeavor to propagate as many of these Large Polyp Stony (LPS) corals as possible.
Similar to many other LPS corals, Acans thrive when provided with regular feeding, and once acclimated, they extend their tentacles in search of food for a significant portion of the day. Additionally, we have observed remarkable color transformations in Acanthastrea over time.
From our experience, Acans tend to exhibit their most vibrant colors under T5 lighting compared to LED. Be sure to check back frequently to explore our latest inventory of WYSIWYG Acan corals available for purchase online.
