FAQ

The Aquaillumination Nero 5 Powerhead is a great and affordable way to add lots of flow to your tank with a maximum flow rate of 3000 GPH.  The Nero 5 is ideal for tanks 40 - 100 gallons.

The Nero 5 creates an adjustable broad flow that is strong but gentle at the same time.  Traditional propeller designs can produce a hard stream that can irritate corals, while the innovative propeller on the Nero 5 pushes water in a wide patterns that can move foods, detritus or other free-floating particles around without blasting corals directly.  Powerhaeds have many different uses in a reef tank, but the main goal is to produce enough flow to keep low-flow spots from forming so that detritus is pushed into the filter system. Nero 5 succeeds in this mission.

With Bluetooth LE technology, you can set up the pump using one of the pre-set flow modes, or create your own custom flow schedule with flow changing throughout the day.  The Nero 5 is easily controlled with the free MyAI or Mobius app.  By connecting to the app, you unlock the ability to choose a flow mode and pump speed as well as to create a full-blown daily schedule that cycles through different modes.  If you don't have a smart device with you, the controller has a one powerful button - pressing or holding the button for different lengths of time can change the speed, mode or turn the pump off or on even without the app.

What Are The Flow Modes?

Radom:  Keep your tank guessing wiht the random flow mode.  The Pump will randomly change its flow rate throughout the day creating natural water movement

Pulse:  Creating a standing wave can be done with the Pump.  The pulse interval can be changed along with the maximum flow rate.  Having a wave can cause some stress on your tank - but what a great way to lift out settle detritus from hard to reach areas

Constant:  Set and forget the right flow rate for your tank and it will keep going until you change it

Schedule:  Create a schedule that utilizes multiple flow modes

Feed:  Just hold the driver button for 2 - 5 seconds will put the Pump into feed mode for 10 minutes

All-Off:  Just hold the driver button for 6 or more seconds and the Pump goes off - touch it again and the Pump goes back on

Compatible with MXM:  The Nero 5 can be under the wireless control of Apex or Apex Fusion

Mounting the Nero 5 takes a minute and moving the Pump around only takes a second.  So, you can direct the flow where you need it without a lot of hassle.  The two-part mounting system incorporate an inner magnet and an outer magnet that couple together through glass that is 0.63 inches or less.
