Fungia is in the family of Fungiidae and is a large polyp stony (LPS) coral. Unlike other coral, they are not glued down and can move a bit. They are the happiest on the sand bottom.
Fungia require moderate light in 150 - 200 par range. Start lower and work up until the coral appears happy.
Fungia don't require any special feeding and rely on the symbiotic relationship with its zooanthellae. Fungia like low to moderate flow. Keep the flow indirect, but they do need some flow. You may have to watch as it may be harder to get even indirect flow on the bottom.
Fungia are considered difficult coral to keep and should only be kept by expert reef keepers.
Fungia are very aggressive. And, they release white slime when attacked or die, and this slime is quite toxic to other coral. Thus, give them a good amount of room to avoid harming other coral.
Water Chemistry: PH 8.0 – 8.4m Nitrates 5 – 10, Phosphates 0.05m – 0.1, Alkalinity 8 - 9 dKh, and Calcium 400 – 450.
